Minot uses shootout to best Aberdeen, 4-3 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Minot Minotauros defeated the Aberdeen Wings in a shootout 4-3 (3-2 SO).

The shootout lasted for 22 attempts between the teams. Aberdeen got shootout goals from Peter Krieger and Colton Kramer. Minot's other shootout goals were scored by Mason Morelli and Jerry Laakso.

The Minotauros overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Minot fell behind 3-2 after a goal by the Wings' Jake Horton at 14:38 in the third period. The Minotauros tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Brett Bukowski at 15:58 in the third period.

Minot got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. By firing 33 shots on goal, the Minotauros exceeded the 24.2 shots they average per game this year.

Minot was helped by Jake Clifford, who registered one goal. Clifford scored 53 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Cameron Rowat provided the assist. Minot also got a goal from Lucas Oliver as well. Other players who recorded assists for Minot were Scott Dornbrock, Zack Holstrom, and Beau Ricketts, who contributed one a piece.

Aberdeen forced the Minotauros goalie Ryan Ruck to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Wings were helped by Krieger, who finished with one goal. Krieger scored 6:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aberdeen. Niklas Mayrhauser assisted on the tally. Patrick Steinhauser also scored for Aberdeen. In addition, Aberdeen received assists from Liam McGing, Justin Parizek, Tyler Cisar, and Erik Baskin, who each chipped in one.

Ruck rejected 33 shots on goal for Minot. The Minotauros incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Chad Catt recorded 29 saves for Aberdeen. The Wings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
