Michigan falls to Johnstown after surprising comeback

The Johnstown Tomahawks climbed out of a one-goal hole to beat the Michigan Warriors, 3-2.

Jaycob McCombs had a great game for Johnstown, netting two goals. McCombs' tallies came at 6:59 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and 15:03 into the third to make the score 3-3.

The Tomahawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 21 minutes in penalties during the game.

Johnstown also got a goal from Cody Gylling as well. Other players who recorded assists for Johnstown were Ian Spencer, JB Baker, Brandon Reinholz, and Mitch Kontny, who contributed one a piece.

Michigan relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Connor Lyons, AJ Marcinek and Zack Szajner took 15 of the team's 26 shots.

In addition, Michigan received assists from Jake Faiella and Martin Gruse, who each chipped in one.

Chris Truehl made 24 saves for Johnstown on 26 shots. The Tomahawks registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Trevor Gorsuch recorded 19 saves for the Warriors. Michigan totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play.
