Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Jamestown Ironmen defeated the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout.The 47 shots that Jamestown put on net surpassed the Ironmen's average of 30.1 shots per game this season. Jamestown was helped by Evan Ritt, who grabbed one goal. Ritt scored 18:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Jamestown. Tyler Minx assisted on the tally. Jamestown also got a goal from Dylan Zink as well. More assists for Jamestown came via Ryan Urso, who had one. Kalamazoo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Ironmen to score on any of their five power plays. The Jr. K-Wings' offense was clicking better than usual and put 42 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.1 shots per game they average. Kalamazoo was helped by Danny Hamburg, who racked up one goal. Hamburg scored 2:26 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Christian George provided the assist. Taylor Burden also scored for Kalamazoo. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Sam Johnson, Brendan Vetter, and Robbie Payne, who contributed one a piece. Tim Shaughnessy recorded 40 saves for Jamestown. The Ironmen incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Jr. K-Wings' Marcus Due-Boje stopped 44 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Kalamazoo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
