Fresno rides Sholl to victory over Wenatchee, 3-1Town Toyota Center Fri, Jan 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Tomas Sholl helped the Fresno Monsters defeat the Wenatchee Wild, 3-1. Fresno was led by Trevor Husch, who had one goal and one assist. Husch scored short handed 4:25 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Fresno. The Monsters found themselves down a man on Mitchell Snyder's tripping. Christian Salvato picked up the assist. Fresno put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wenatchee to score on any of its four power plays. The 26 shots that the Monsters put on net surpassed Fresno's average of 15.4 shots per game this season. Fresno also got a goal from Jacob McDowell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fresno were Mark Bittner, who had one. The Wild were held below their usual level of production. Wenatchee puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The Wild put 42 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.1 they average per game. Wenatchee was led by Jono Davis, who scored the team's only goal. Davis scored 2:12 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Brian Williams provided the assist. Tomas Sholl made 41 saves for the Monsters on 42 shots. Fresno incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Robert Nichols rejected 23 shots on goal for the Wild. Wenatchee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
