Sarcona's big game bests Corpus Christi in 5-2 Amarillo win

TJ Sarcona was all over the ice for the Amarillo Bulls, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Amarillo's 5-2 win over the Corpus Christi IceRays.

Sarcona scored on the power play at 16:18 into the first period to make the score 2-2 and again while 3:19 into the third to make the score 4-2 Amarillo.

The 46 shots that the Bulls put on net surpassed Amarillo's average of 33.5 shots per game this season.

Amarillo additionally got points from Matt Sieckhaus, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Gage Christianson also scored for Amarillo. Other players who recorded assists for Amarillo were Ryan Cole, who had two and John Rey, Geoff Fortman, Tyler Deresky, Tyler Gernhofer, and Tyler Rostenkowski, who each chipped in one.

Corpus Christi relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Rudy Sulmonde, Brandon Smith and Eric Purcell took 11 of the team's 21 shots. The IceRays could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Corpus Christi also got points from Sulmonde, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Corpus Christi received assists from Beau Walker, Caleb OBrien, and Grant Hutton, who contributed one a piece.

Paul Berrafato recorded 19 saves for the Bulls. Amarillo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Hayden Stewart made 41 saves for Corpus Christi on 46 shots. The IceRays registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
