Wichita Falls uses shootout to best Corpus Christi, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wichita Falls Wildcats defeated the Corpus Christi IceRays in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams.

Wichita Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Wildcats put 43 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.0 they average per game.

Wichita Falls was helped by Will Vosejpka, who registered one goal. Vosejpka scored on the power play 7:35 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Wichita Falls. A roughing penalty on Jalen Schulz had put the Wildcats on the power play. Patrick Yudez provided the assist. O'Neal L also scored for Wichita Falls. More assists for Wichita Falls came via Kristaps Bazevics, Charles Hemstrom, Salminen Sami, and George Pagonis, who contributed one a piece.

The 29 shots that Corpus Christi put on net surpassed the IceRays' average of 24.9 shots per game this season. Corpus Christi's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the IceRays finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Corpus Christi was helped by Grant Hutton, who had one goal. Hutton scored 11:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Emil Romig picked up the assist. Corpus Christi also got a goal from Brandon Smith as well. In addition, Corpus Christi received assists from Caleb OBrien, Charles Baldwin, Wayland Williams, and Eric Purcell, who each chipped in one.

Evan Cowley recorded 26 saves for Wichita Falls. The Wildcats incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The IceRays' Hayden Stewart stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced.
