Jansen's hat trick boosts Coulee Region over Minot, 4-2

Omni Center    Fri, Jan 11, 2013

A hat trick by Mac Jansen was the highlight in Chill's 4-2 win against the Minot Minotauros.

Jansen notched his first tally 17:11 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:19 into the first and at 19:36 into the first.

The Coulee Region Chill's penalty kill excelled, as Coulee Region gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Chill stifled Minot's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Coulee Region relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Hunter Anderson, Cam Bleck and Matt Williams took 14 of the team's 27 shots.

In addition, Coulee Region received assists from Derek OFlynn, who had two and Aleksi Mustaniemi, Jake Kauppila, and Andy Faust, who each chipped in one.

The Minotauros' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Coulee Region power plays. By firing 28 shots on goal, Minot exceeded the 25.0 shots it averages per game this year.

The Minotauros were helped by Jake OBorsky, who grabbed one goal. OBorsky scored 4:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Minot. Cameron Rowat also scored for Minot. Other players who recorded assists for Minot were Scott Dornbrock and Zack Holstrom, who contributed one a piece.

The Chill's Blake Cates stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Coulee Region incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Minot's starting goalie, Tyler Parks, made 12 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Ryan Ruck, who stopped 11 shots. The Minotauros incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
