Wichita Falls downs Odessa, 6-2

Salminen Sami racked up one point to lead the Wichita Falls Wildcats to a 6-2 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes.

Wichita Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Wildcats outdid their season average for goals scored. Wichita Falls has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign. With 47 shots on target during the contest, the Wildcats exceeded the 25.1 shots they average per game this year.

Wichita Falls additionally got points from Chris Knudson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Colin Staub, who also had one goal and one assist. Wichita Falls also got a goal from Nick Farmer as well. In addition, Wichita Falls received assists from Brian LeBlanc, Eliot Grauer, Jake Townsend, and Kyle Bauman, who each chipped in one and Patrick Yudez, Daniel Vaysberg, and George Pagonis, who contributed two a piece.

Odessa racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Jackalopes had been spending in the box. The 21 shots that Odessa put on net surpassed the Jackalopes' average of 15.5 shots per game this season. The defense for Odessa played an important role offensively, racking up 10 shots on goal.

The Jackalopes were helped by Anthony Olguin, who finished with one goal. Olguin scored 15:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wichita Falls. Lawrence Cornellier provided the assist. Odessa also got points from Cornellier, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Odessa came via Matthew Montemurro, who had one.

Evan Cowley recorded 19 saves for Wichita Falls. The Wildcats totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Odessa's Nick Deery stopped 41 shots out of the 47 that he faced.
