Fresno holds on for 3-2 win against Kenai RiverSelland Arena Sat, Jan 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kenai River Brown Bears tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Fresno Monsters held on for a 3-2 victory. Fresno took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Kenai River storm back on a Chris Nuth goal 13:02 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Monsters were led by Mitchell Snyder, who finished with one goal. Snyder scored on the power play 13:13 into the second period to make the score Fresno. Fresno had gained a power play chance when Carson Vance was whistled for hooking. Kyle Sucher provided the assist. With 22 shots on target during the contest, the Monsters exceeded the 19.0 shots they average per game this year. Fresno additionally got points from Newton Fuller, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Fresno also got a goal from Sean Kalbak as well. In addition, Fresno received assists from Tyler Shipstad, Kyle Buffardi, Matt Salituro, and Gordon Wells, who contributed one a piece. The Brown Bears put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.4 they average per game. Kenai River was helped by Matt Seidel, who tallied one goal.
