The Amarillo Bulls almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Texas Tornado managed to pull out a 3-1 win in the end. Texas led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Tornado's Justin Greenberg's scored at 11:02 in the second period to put Texas up 3-0. The Tornado were sparked by Brandon Hawkins, who registered one goal. Hawkins scored on the power play 2:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Texas. Texas earned a power play opportunity when Ryan Cole was put in the box for slashing. Jackson Leef provided the assist. The Tornado forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game Texas had been spending in the box. The Tornado stifled Amarillo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Texas' offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 31.4 shots per game it averages. More assists for Texas came via Alex Temby, Michael Hoy, Scott Conway, Andrew Mayer, and CJ Reuschlein, who contributed one a piece. The Bulls were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. Amarillo surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bulls average 33.8 shots on goal per game, but only sent 23 pucks on net against the Tornado. Amarillo's offense operated below it season average.
