Springfield erases deficit to stun Port Huron, 4-3

The Springfield Jr. Blues climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Port Huron Fighting Falcons, 4-3.

Springfield never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Jr. Blues fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Port Huron's Rick DeRosa at 16:09 in the second period. Springfield tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Parker Johnson at 19:22 in the second period. The Jr. Blues got the game winner at 1:08 in the third period on a goal by Johnson.

Springfield was led by Micah Ranum, who finished with one goal.

The Jr. Blues stifled the Fighting Falcons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 37 shots on target during the contest, Springfield exceeded the 26.6 shots it averages per game this year.

Springfield additionally got points from Johnson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Ryan Atkinson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jack Sloan also scored for Springfield. More assists for Springfield came via Terry Leibo, Tyler Opilka, and Trevor Stone, who each chipped in one.

Port Huron put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Blues to score on any of their three power plays. The 26 shots that the Fighting Falcons put on net surpassed Port Huron's average of 23.4 shots per game this season.

Port Huron also got a goal from Easton Powers as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Huron were Brett DAndrea, Bryan Yim, Ian Miller, Vito Aluia, and Tommy Abrams, who contributed one a piece.

Matt Leon recorded 23 saves for Springfield. The Jr. Blues incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Fighting Falcons' Max Milosek stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Port Huron incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
