Jamestown hangs on, beats Janesville 2-0

Victor Johansson gave the Jamestown Ironmen the lead in the first period, and the Janesville Jets was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

Johansson provided Jamestown with the game-winning tally when he scored 8:23 into the the first period. Ryan Doucet provided the assist.

The Ironmen were led by Johansson, who had one goal.

Jamestown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Janesville to score on any of its four power plays. The Ironmen's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Jets. Jamestown gives up 2.4 goals on average per game.

Jamestown also got a goal from Nicholas Sierra as well. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Brett Szajner and Joe Mottiqua, who each chipped in one.

Janesville did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jets average 2.4 goals per game. Janesville's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 10 shots between them.

The Jets were led by Alec Vanko, who took three shots.

Blake Wojtala rejected 22 shots on goal for the Ironmen. Jamestown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brock Kautz recorded 23 saves for Janesville. The Jets incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
