Topeka survives Wichita Falls comeback, wins 3-2

The Wichita Falls Wildcats tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Topeka RoadRunners would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Topeka made the score 3-1 on a goal by Ross Luedtke at 16:33 in the second period, and Wichita Falls got as close as 3-2 when Kyle Bauman scored 19:59 into the third period.

Luedtke was all over the ice for the RoadRunners, as he racked up two goals in the win.

Topeka stifled the Wildcats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Dan Dupell also scored for Topeka. More assists for Topeka came via Sean Gaffney, who had two and Luke Veitch, Tyler Poulsen, and Jerad Tafoya, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 36 shots on goal, Wichita Falls exceeded the 25.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Wichita Falls also got points from O'Neal L, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Wichita Falls received assists from Eliot Grauer, Will Vosejpka, and Jake Townsend, who each chipped in one.

Spencer Viele recorded 34 saves for the RoadRunners. Topeka totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Wildcats' Evan Cowley stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Wichita Falls totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
