Wenatchee rides Nichols to victory over Fairbanks, 2-1

Robert Nichols had a standout game with 25 saves, and the Wenatchee Wild beat the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 2-1.

Wenatchee was led by Max McHugh, who had one goal. McHugh scored 15:10 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wenatchee. Noah Nelson picked up the assist.

Wenatchee also got a goal from Joshua Hartley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee were Nathan Flynn and Nicholas Kuchera, who each chipped in one.

Fairbanks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Ice Dogs were held below their usual level of production. Fairbanks puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

The Ice Dogs were led by Patrick Newell, who scored the team's only goal. Newell scored on the power play 11:44 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Fairbanks. Fairbanks had gotten the advantage when the Wild's Nelson was sent off for hooking. Jacob Hetz assisted on the tally.

Wenatchee incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Ice Dogs' Steve Perry stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Fairbanks incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
