Janesville blows out Port Huron, 3-0

The Janesville Jets had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 3-0 win over the Port Huron Fighting Falcons.

Janesville got the win thanks to a great game by Alec Vanko, who had one goal and two assists. Vanko scored on the power play 8:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Janesville. A cross checking penalty on Brandon Lukezic had put the Jets on the power play. Ryan Dau assisted on the tally.

Janesville's penalty kill excelled, as the Jets gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Janesville stifled Port Huron's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jets' defensive effort looked to be improved. Janesville gives up 2.7 goals on average per game. By firing 28 shots on goal, the Jets exceeded the 21.5 shots they average per game this year. Janesville's defensemen played well offensively, producing two goals while racking up 16 shots.

Pedlan Ruslan also scored for Janesville. Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were Jordan Himley, who had one and Jason Ford, who had two.

The Fighting Falcons could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Port Huron puts an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game.

The Fighting Falcons were led by Ian Miller, who took five shots.

Brock Kautz recorded 22 saves for the Jets. Janesville totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Max Milosek took the loss and made three saves before being replaced by Alex Blankenburg who made 22 saves. Port Huron ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
