Huge game by Brenk boosts Brookings over Minot, 7-4Maysa Arena Sat, Dec 29, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Eric Brenk, who had two goals and one assist, the Brookings Blizzard defeated the Minot Minotauros, 7-4. Brenk's tallies came on the power play at 8:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brookings and 17:59 into the third to make the score 7-4 Brookings.Minot's power play was ineffective against Brookings' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Blizzard racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. Brookings surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blizzard found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Brookings averages 2.9 goals per contest. The Blizzard's offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.7 shots per game they average. Brookings also had goals scored by Adam Cavalinni, who had three and Connor Andrle and Tyler Cayemberg, who each put in one. The Blizzard registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Minotauros' starting goalie, Tyler Parks, made 19 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Ryan Ruck, who stopped six shots.
