Soo survives Port Huron comeback, wins 4-3

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Soo Eagles would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Soo took a 4-0 lead during the second period, only to have Port Huron storm back on a Daniel Rehnstrom goal 14:17 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The 38 shots that the Eagles put on net surpassed Soo's average of 28.5 shots per game this season.

The Eagles were helped by Chris Waterstreet, who registered two goals. Waterstreet scored the first of his two goals at 12:58 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Soo. Cody Von Reuden picked up the assist. Waterstreet's next tally made the score Soo with 6:46 left in the second period. Sean Murphy provided the assist. Soo additionally got points from Michael Covach, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Soo also got a goal from Mike Sabatini as well. Other players who recorded assists for Soo were Matt Menta, who had two and Pat Thompson and Alexander Taulien, who contributed one a piece.

The Fighting Falcons were led by Rick DeRosa, who racked up one goal and one assist. DeRosa scored 7:28 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Soo. Brett DAndrea assisted on the tally. Port Huron also got points from DAndrea, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Port Huron came via Easton Powers, Bryan Yim, and Payden Mielke, who each chipped in one.

Zach Nagelvoort rejected 25 shots on goal for Soo. The Eagles incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Port Huron's Max Milosek stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Fighting Falcons incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
