Texas rides Leisner to victory over Corpus Christi, 6-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Hunter Leisner helped the Texas Tornado defeat the Corpus Christi IceRays, 6-1.

Texas was sparked by Brandon Platt, who racked up one goal. Platt scored 3:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Elexie solovyev assisted on the tally.

The Tornado's goal total was higher than their season average. Texas has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Texas also got points from Andrew Mayer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Texas included Jason Eddy, who had one and Brandon Hawkins, who had three. In addition, Texas received assists from Scott Conway, who had three and Jackson Leef, Anthony Mousseau, and Justin Greenberg, who contributed one a piece.

Corpus Christi was held below its usual level of production. The IceRays put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game.

Corpus Christi was led by AJ Jarosz, who scored the team's only goal. Jarosz scored 17:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Corpus Christi. Andrew Paras picked up the assist.

Hunter Leisner made 25 saves for the Tornado on 26 shots. Texas totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Hayden Stewart rejected 24 shots on goal for the IceRays. Corpus Christi totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
