Janesville blows out Springfield, 5-1

The Janesville Jets were firing on all cylinders against the Springfield Jr. Blues, and when the final buzzer sounded Jets emerged with a 5-1 win.

Janesville was led by goalie Austin Priebe, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Priebe managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.28 prior to the game.

The Jets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Springfield to score on any of its three power plays. Janesville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 17.3 shots per game it averages. The Jets bested their season scoring average. This season, Janesville averages 2.4 goals per contest.

The Jets were led by Grant Stueve, who racked up two goals. Stueve scored the first of his two goals at 9:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Janesville. Chase Rey assisted on the tally. Stueve's next tally made the score 4-0 Janesville with 9:35 left in the second period. Rey picked up the assist. Janesville also got points from Pedlan Ruslan, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ryan Dau also scored for Janesville. Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were Kucerovy, who had two and Brett Bauza, Alec Vanko, Jordon Himley, and Donovan Gardnier, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Blues could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Springfield was led by Alex Baskakov, who dished out one assist.

Janesville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Jr. Blues' Matt Leon stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced.
