Jamestown vanquishes Kalamazoo in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Jamestown Ironmen defeated the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout featured 18 attempts between both teams. Kalamazoo got shootout goals from Robbie Payne and Danny Hamburg. In addition to the clincher, Jamestown got shootout goals from Ross Pavek and Ryan Urso.

With 33 shots on target during the contest, the Ironmen exceeded the 27.3 shots they average per game this year.

Jamestown was helped by Tyler Dunagan, who had one goal. Dunagan scored 59 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Jamestown. Urso assisted on the tally. Jamestown also got a goal from Nicholas Sierra as well. In addition, Jamestown received assists from Aaron Scheppelman, who had two.

The Jr. K-Wings were helped by Hamburg, who grabbed one goal. Hamburg scored 16:51 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jamestown. Taylor Burden provided the assist. Patrick Spellacy also scored for Kalamazoo. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Kyle Gattelaro, Luc Boby, and Mikhail Bushinski, who contributed one a piece.

Reid Mimmack recorded 24 saves for the Ironmen. Jamestown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kalamazoo's Alex Okicki stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Jr. K-Wings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
