Wenatchee's Roubos deadly on offense in 4-1 win against Fresno

Blake Roubos had two goals to lead the Wenatchee Wild to a 4-1 victory over the Fresno Monsters.

Roubos scored at 5:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wenatchee and again while 8:59 into the second to make the score 4-1 Wenatchee.

Wenatchee forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Wild had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. Wenatchee stifled Fresno's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 56 shots on goal, the Wild exceeded the 28.9 shots they average per game this year.

Nathan Flynn also scored for Wenatchee. More assists for Wenatchee came via Evan Schmidbauer, David Powlowski, Noah Nelson, and Trace Redmond, who contributed one a piece and Nicholas Kuchera and Brian Williams, who each chipped in two.

The Monsters' defensemen bolstered Fresno's offensive attack, as they bombarded Robert Nichols with nine shots.

The Monsters were led by Mark Bittner, who scored the team's only goal. Bittner scored 17:59 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Wenatchee. Matt Salituro picked up the assist.

Robert Nichols made 15 saves for Wenatchee on 16 shots. The Wild registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Macauley Haight recorded 52 saves for Fresno. The Monsters totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
