Port Huron vanquishes Michigan in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Huron Fighting Falcons defeated the Michigan Warriors in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Michigan's shootout goal was scored by Zack Szajner. In addition to the clincher, Port Huron got a shootout goal from Easton Powers.

With 31 shots on target during the contest, the Fighting Falcons exceeded the 26.9 shots they average per game this year.

Port Huron was helped by Matthew Uvodich, who racked up one goal. Uvodich scored 8:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Huron. Powers assisted on the tally. Port Huron also got a goal from Bryan Yim as well. More assists for Port Huron came via Alex Archibald, Ryan Nick, and Mitch Maloney, who each chipped in one.

The Warriors kept the Fighting Falcons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Blankenburg made 32 saves on 35 shots. Michigan could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Warriors were helped by Darren McCormick, who registered one goal. McCormick scored 18:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan. Brock Labelle picked up the assist. TJ Stuntz also scored for Michigan. In addition, Michigan received assists from Szajner and Shawn Badali, who contributed one a piece.

Port Huron incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dillion Kelley rejected 27 shots on goal for Michigan. The Warriors registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
