Wenatchee vanquishes Fresno in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Selland Arena    Fri, Dec 14, 2012

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wenatchee Wild defeated the Fresno Monsters in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Fresno's shootout goal was scored by Daniel Rosse. In addition to the clincher, Wenatchee got a shootout goal from Jono Davis.

The Wild overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Wenatchee was down 2-0 after a short handed goal by the Monsters' Trevor Husch at 2:29 in the first period. The Wild tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Evan Schmidbauer at 9:02 in the second period.

Wenatchee put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fresno to score on any of its three power plays.

The Wild were helped by David Powlowski, who grabbed one goal. Powlowski scored on the power play 17:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fresno. Wenatchee had gotten the advantage when the Monsters' Husch was sent off for cross checking. Chris Kerr assisted on the tally.
