The Odessa Jackalopes tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Amarillo Bulls held on for a 3-1 victory. A goal by Mike Davis put Amarillo up 3-0 in the third period, but Odessa pulled to within two on Lawrence Cornellier's tally 15:49 into the third period. The Jackalopes were stymied by the Bulls netminder Paul Berrafato, who stopped 29 shots during the victory. Berrafato certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.76 entering the contest. The defensemen of Amarillo were also effective in Odessa's zone, and came away with two goals. The 44 shots that the Bulls put on net surpassed Amarillo's average of 28.8 shots per game this season. The Bulls were helped by TJ Sherman, who finished with one goal. Sherman scored on the power play 2:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo. A slashing penalty on Anthony Olguin had put Amarillo on the power play. Geoff Fortman assisted on the tally. Amarillo also got points from Fortman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Amarillo were TJ Sarcona, who had two and Tyler Deresky, Brady Ferguson, and Tyler Rostenkowski, who contributed one a piece. The Jackalopes' offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 19.0 shots per game they average. In addition, Odessa received assists from Mike Mezzano and Corey Hoffman, who each chipped in one. The Bulls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Odessa's Phil Heinle stopped 41 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Jackalopes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
