The Texas Tornado had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over the Corpus Christi IceRays. Louie Rowe had one goal and two assists to lead Texas. Rowe scored 15:12 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Texas. The Tornado surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Texas averages 3.8 goals per game. With 45 shots on target during the contest, the Tornado exceeded the 30.6 shots they average per game this year. Others who scored for Texas included CJ Reuschlein, who had two and Brandon Hawkins, Andrew Mayer, Jordan Paine, and Justin Greenberg, who scored one goal each. In addition, Texas received assists from Scott Conway, who had two, Jackson Leef, who had three, and Alex Temby, Jason Eddy, Brandon Platt, and Mitchell McPherson, who each chipped in one. Corpus Christi was led by Emil Romig, who registered one goal. Romig scored on the power play 2:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Texas. The IceRays earned a power play opportunity when Michael Hoy was put in the box for head contact. John Roisum provided the assist. Charles Baldwin also scored for Corpus Christi. More assists for Corpus Christi came via Rudy Sulmonde, AJ Jarosz, and Caleb OBrien, who contributed one a piece. Hunter Leisner made 23 saves for Texas on 25 shots. The Tornado incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Corpus Christi took out Ben Myers after he had made 24 saves and installed Hayden Stewart in goal, where he finished with 14 saves and the loss. The IceRays incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
