The Soo Eagles relied on the sparkling performance of Zach Nagelvoort in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Springfield Jr. Blues.

Soo pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 32 penalty minutes.

The Eagles were sparked by Alex Robert, who had one goal. Robert scored 15:25 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Soo. Michael Lant picked up the assist.

Soo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. With 37 shots on target during the contest, the Eagles exceeded the 25.9 shots they average per game this year.

Soo also got a goal from Jared VanWormer as well. More assists for Soo came via Robin Hoglund, who had two.

Springfield stifled Soo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Blues found themselves short handed often, totaling 20 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Springfield was led by Brett Skibba, who scored the team's only goal. Skibba scored 13:49 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Alex Baskakov provided the assist.

Zach Nagelvoort made 27 saves for the Eagles on 28 shots. The Jr. Blues' Ryan Kellenberger stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced.
