Wenatchee clinches tight 1-0 victory against Johnstown

The Wenatchee Wild and the Johnstown Tomahawks played 60 tight minutes of hockey, but in the end it was Wenatchee that came away with a 1-0 victory.

The goal was unassisted.

The Wild pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 34 penalty minutes.

Wenatchee was sparked by Jono Davis, who tallied one goal. Davis scored short handed 12:42 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Wenatchee. The Wild played down a man on Lance Carney's cross checking.

Wenatchee's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Johnstown power plays. The Wild's offense operated below they season average. Wenatchee averages 3.6 goals per game. The Wild's defensive effort looked to be improved. Wenatchee gives up 2.3 goals on average per game. By firing 39 shots on goal, the Wild exceeded the 26.1 shots they average per game this year.

Johnstown averages 26.2 shots on goal per game, but only sent 18 pucks on net against Wenatchee. The Tomahawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Johnstown puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

The Tomahawks were led by Jeff Bergh, who took three shots.

Robert Nichols rejected 18 shots on goal for the Wild. Wenatchee registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Johnstown's Chris Truehl stopped 38 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Tomahawks ended with 12 minutes in penalty time with one minor and two majors.
