The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over the Janesville Jets on a clutch goal by Danny Hamburg. Janesville was stymied by Kalamazoo netminder Alex Okicki, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Okicki managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.97 prior to the game. The Jr. K-Wings were led by Hamburg, who grabbed one goal. Hamburg scored 3:47 into overtime to make the score 2-1 Kalamazoo. Mikhail Bushinski assisted on the tally. Kalamazoo relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Hamburg, Bushinski and Brett Beauvais took 13 of the team's 25 shots. Josh Dangel also scored for Kalamazoo. In addition, Kalamazoo received assists from Sam Johnson, Robbie Payne, and Luc Boby, who each chipped in one. The Jets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. With 27 shots on target during the contest, Janesville exceeded the 20.0 shots it averages per game this year. The Jets were led by Mike Sullivan, who scored the team's only goal. Sullivan scored 12:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Janesville. Eric Cruickshank picked up the assist. The Jr. K-Wings ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Janesville's Austin Priebe stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Jets totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
