Janesville beats Port Huron 4-2 after comeback scare

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Janesville Jets held on for a 4-2 victory.

Janesville took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Port Huron storm back on a Zach Badalamenti goal 16:31 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Jets were led by Chase Rey, who had one goal. Rey scored 9:42 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Janesville. Kucerovy provided the assist.

Janesville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Fighting Falcons to score on any of their three power plays. The Jets' offense was clicking better than usual and put 26 shots on goal during the game, better than the 20.1 shots per game they average.

Janesville additionally got points from Albergo, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jordan Himley also scored for Janesville. Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were Bryan Kronberger, Donovan Gardnier, Pedlan Ruslan, and Mike Sullivan, who contributed one a piece.

Port Huron was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and two majors for 72 minutes in penalty time. The Fighting Falcons surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. With 32 shots on target during the contest, Port Huron exceeded the 26.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Port Huron also got a goal from Bryan Yim as well. More assists for Port Huron came via Bobby Brown, Daniel Rehnstrom, and Rick DeRosa, who each chipped in one.

Austin Priebe rejected 30 shots on goal for Janesville. The Jets totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. The Fighting Falcons' starting goalie, Max Milosek, made seven saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Alex Blankenburg, who stopped 15 shots.
