Kalamazoo boosted by Due-Boje's play in net, beats Springfield 2-1

Marcus Due-Boje had a standout game with 34 saves, and the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings beat the Springfield Jr. Blues 2-1.

Kalamazoo was led by Mac McDonnell, who racked up one goal. McDonnell scored 16:01 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kalamazoo. Kyle Gattelaro picked up the assist.

The Jr. K-Wings managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Kalamazoo ended up below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. The 27 shots that the Jr. K-Wings put on net surpassed Kalamazoo's average of 24.4 shots per game this season.

Kalamazoo also got a goal from Taylor Burden as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Brett Beauvais, who had one.

Springfield's offense rang up 35 shots on the Jr. K-Wings' net.

The Jr. Blues were led by Simon Koscielski, who scored the team's only goal. Koscielski scored 7:25 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Brett Skibba provided the assist.

Kalamazoo registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Matt Leon recorded 25 saves for Springfield. The Jr. Blues finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-1 with the man advantage.
