Fairbanks wins tough contest against Wichita Falls, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

Fairbanks gained the winning advantage on a goal by Lonnie Clary 14:22 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Ice Dogs got the win on the strength of a great game by Clary, who had two goals and one assist. Clary scored the first of his two goals at 6:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fairbanks. Ryan Hogland assisted on the tally. Clary's next tally made the score 4-3 Fairbanks with 5:38 left in the second period. Duggie Lagrone picked up the assist.

Fairbanks forced Wichita Falls goalie Evan Cowley to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Fairbanks also got points from Lagrone, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Hogland, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Fairbanks also got a goal from Patrick Newell as well. More assists for Fairbanks came via Garret Clemment, who had one.

The Wildcats stifled the Ice Dogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Wichita Falls was helped by Ben Kucera, who had one goal. Kucera scored 11:30 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Colin Staub assisted on the tally. McFarlanne B also scored for Wichita Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were robson cramer, who had two and Will Vosejpka and Tyler Ledford, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Aldridge rejected 23 shots on goal for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Wildcats' Cowley stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Wichita Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
