Texas downs Topeka, 2-1

Andrew Mayer finished with one point to lead the Texas Tornado to a 2-1 victory over the Topeka RoadRunners.

Texas' offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 30.8 shots per game it averages.

CJ Reuschlein also scored for Texas. More assists for Texas came via Jackson Leef, Nick Neville, Michael Hoy, and Justin Greenberg, who contributed one a piece.

Topeka's offense operated below it season average. The RoadRunners average 3.2 goals per game. Topeka relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Tyler Andrew, Peter Halash and Kevin Patterson took 12 of the team's 22 shots.

The RoadRunners were led by Sean Gaffney, who scored the team's only goal. Gaffney scored 16:16 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Andrew assisted on the tally.

Hunter Leisner rejected 21 shots on goal for the Tornado. Texas totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
