Amarillo squeaks by Odessa, 4-3

The Amarillo Bulls gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Odessa Jackalopes.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Carter Penzien at 17:32 of the third period.

Amarillo was led by Penzien, who registered one goal.

The Bulls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Odessa power plays. Amarillo's offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.1 shots per game it averages.

Tyler Deresky also scored for Amarillo. Other players who recorded assists for Amarillo were Omar Mullan, who had three and Geoff Fortman, Garret Peterson, Brady Ferguson, TJ Sarcona, and Matt Sieckhaus, who each chipped in one.

Odessa put 28 shots on net during the contest, more than the 17.7 it averages per game.

The Jackalopes were led by Matt Volonnino, who tallied one goal and one assist. Volonnino scored 7:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Odessa. Jimmy Peplinski assisted on the tally. Odessa also got points from Matthew Montemurro, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Odessa also got a goal from Lawrence Cornellier as well. More assists for Odessa came via Jalen Krogman, Anthony Olguin, and Pat Thompson, who contributed one a piece.

Paul Berrafato rejected 25 shots on goal for the Bulls. Amarillo totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Phil Heinle recorded 29 saves for Odessa. The Jackalopes ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
