Corpus Christi rips Kenai River, 7-3AmericanBank Center Fri, Nov 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Corpus Christi IceRays were firing on all cylinders against the Kenai River Brown Bears, and when the final buzzer sounded IceRays emerged with a 7-3 win. Emil Romig was all over the ice for Corpus Christi, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Romig scored short handed 48 seconds into the second period to make the score 4-1 Corpus Christi. Rudy Sulmonde assisted on the tally. The IceRays pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes. Corpus Christi's goal total was higher than its season average. The IceRays have scored at the pace of 3.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Corpus Christi put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.7 it averages per game. Corpus Christi also got points from Sulmonde, who also tallied two goals and one assist, AJ Jarosz, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Perry DArrisso, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Charles Baldwin, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Brandon Berkley also scored for Corpus Christi. Other players who recorded assists for Corpus Christi were Trevor Heuser, Jalen Schulz, Caleb OBrien, Joe Ginley, Wayland Williams, and Eric Purcell, who each chipped in one. Kenai River's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. By firing 35 shots on goal, the Brown Bears exceeded the 23.5 shots they average per game this year. Kenai River was helped by Brian Berry, who tallied one goal. Berry scored 6:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matthew Meier provided the assist. Kenai River also got a goal from Jake Bushey as well. More assists for Kenai River came via Carson Vance, Alec Butcher, Albin Karlsson, Lucas Kohls, and Zac Lazzaro, who contributed one a piece. The IceRays' Hayden Stewart stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Corpus Christi registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Brown Bears' starting goalie, Gustaf Johansson, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Sean Healy, who stopped 18 shots. Kenai River totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-6 on the power play.
