Grauer's big game bests Texas in 6-1 Wichita Falls win

The Wichita Falls Wildcats' Eliot Grauer had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 6-1 win over the Texas Tornado.

Grauer's tallies came on the power play at 17:40 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wichita Falls and 19:17 into the second to make the score 4-0 Wichita Falls.

Wichita Falls was led by goalie Evan Cowley, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Cowley certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.26 entering the contest.

The Wildcats racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. Wichita Falls surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Wildcats bested their season scoring average. Wichita Falls averages 2.7 goals per game. The Wildcats' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Wichita Falls put 40 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.9 it averages per game.

Wichita Falls also got points from Salminen Sami, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Erik Ouellette also scored for Wichita Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Tyler Ledford, who had four and Colin Staub and O'Neal L, who contributed one a piece.

Texas forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and two majors for 64 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game the Tornado had been spending in the box. Texas was held below its usual level of production. The Tornado average 3.8 goals per game.

Texas was led by Ryan Tinsley, who dished out one assist.

The Wildcats registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Hunter Leisner made 34 saves for the Tornado on 40 shots. Texas registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
