Mac Jansen was all over the ice for the Coulee Region Chill, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Coulee Region's 6-1 win over the Janesville Jets. Jansen's tallies came at 15:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Coulee Region and 5:15 into the second to make the score 5-0 Coulee Region.The Chill's Blake Cates was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Cates managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.88 prior to the game. Janesville's power play was ineffective against Coulee Region's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at eight seconds into the first period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Chill forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and five majors for 87 minutes in penalty time. Coulee Region surpassed its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. The Chill stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Coulee Region outdid its season average for goals scored. The Chill average 2.6 goals per game. Coulee Region relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jansen, Derek Smith and Jake Kauppila took 17 of the team's 29 shots. Coulee Region also got points from Adam Lovick, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Matt Williams, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Coulee Region also got a goal from Andy Faust as well. More assists for Coulee Region came via Eddie Matsushima, who had two, Cory Lushanko, who had three, and Travis Underwood, Hunter Anderson, Zach Doerring, and Garrett Hendrickson, who contributed one a piece. The Janesville penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 14 minors and three majors for 83 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game the Jets had been spending in the box. Janesville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Chill to score on any of their nine power plays. The Jets' offense rang up 32 shots on Coulee Region's net. The Chill ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Doerring was ejected from the game. Brock Kautz took the loss and made 12 saves before being replaced by Austin Priebe who made 11 saves. Team's David Becker and Conor Lemirande were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
