Austin boosted by Lehr's play in net, beats Brookings 4-1Riverside Fri, Nov 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Austin Bruins relied on the sparkling performance of Nicholas Lehr in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Brookings Blizzard. Austin pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes. The Bruins were led by Riley Colvard, who grabbed one goal. Colvard scored short handed 7:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Austin. A delay of game call on Nolan Kirley put Austin on the penalty kill. Jake Arroyo assisted on the tally. The Bruins' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Brookings power plays. John Simonson also scored for Austin. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Nate Mondry, Cody Dixon, and Brandon Wahlin, who contributed one a piece. Brookings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Blizzard's offense operated below they season average. Brookings averages 3.1 goals per game. The Blizzard were led by Shayne McLaughlin, who scored the team's only goal. McLaughlin scored 3:47 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Thomas Williams picked up the assist. Nicholas Lehr made 25 saves for Austin on 26 shots. Brookings' Drew Weigman stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Blizzard incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
