Hawkins' goals lift Texas to 8-2 victory over Odessa

Brandon Hawkins was all over the ice for the Texas Tornado, as he tallied four goals in Texas' 8-2 win over the Odessa Jackalopes.

Hawkins' first goal came 6:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:51 into the first, at 7:32 into the second, and at 7:39 into the third.

The Tornado's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Odessa power plays. Texas outdid its season average for goals scored. The Tornado average 3.8 goals per game. Texas' offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 30.1 shots per game it averages.

Texas also got points from Jackson Leef, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Andrew Mayer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jordan Paine also scored for Texas. More assists for Texas came via Anthony Mousseau, who had three, elexie solovyev, Mitchell McPherson, and CJ Reuschlein, who contributed one a piece, and Scott Conway and Jason Eddy, who each chipped in two.

By firing 28 shots on goal, Odessa exceeded the 18.4 shots it averages per game this year.

The Jackalopes were led by Ryan Doucet, who had one goal. Doucet scored 3:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Lawrence Cornellier picked up the assist. Odessa also got a goal from Pat Thompson as well. In addition, Odessa received assists from Mason Wyman, Tyler Minx, and Dylan Campbell, who contributed one a piece.

Jordan Kaufer recorded 26 saves for the Tornado. Texas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Odessa took out Andrew Pikul after he had made 25 saves and installed Blake Wojtala in goal, where he finished with six saves and the loss. The Jackalopes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
