Odessa uses early goal to top Wichita Falls, 1-0

Josh Racek gave the Odessa Jackalopes the lead in the first period, and the Wichita Falls Wildcats was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 1-0.

Odessa took over the lead for good with a goal by Racek at 12 seconds in the first period. Ryan Doucet provided the assist.

Blake Wojtala frustrated Wichita Falls' offense all game, and stopped 31 shots en route to a shutout. Wojtala managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.18 prior to the game.

The Jackalopes were led by Racek, who racked up one goal.

Odessa stifled the Wildcats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 23 shots on goal, the Jackalopes exceeded the 17.4 shots they average per game this year.

More assists for Odessa came via Lawrence Cornellier, who had one.

Wichita Falls was held below its usual level of production. The Wildcats average 2.4 goals per game. Wichita Falls' offense rang up 31 shots on Odessa's net.

The Wildcats were led by O'Neal L, who took six shots.

The Jackalopes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Evan Cowley made 22 saves for Wichita Falls on 23 shots. The Wildcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
