DAndrea's performance not enough, Port Huron falls to Kalamazoo, 6-3

The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings won 6-3 over the Port Huron Fighting Falcons.

Kalamazoo's goal total was higher than its season average. The Jr. K-Wings have scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Kalamazoo was led by Matt Wurst, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Wurst scored 6:51 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Kalamazoo. Sam Johnson assisted on the tally. Kalamazoo additionally got points from Brendan Vetter, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Patrick Spellacy also scored for Kalamazoo. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Josh Dangel, who had two, Robbie Payne, who had three, and Brennan Sanford, Nick Kovalchik, and Mikhail Bushinski, who contributed one a piece.

Port Huron was led by Brett DAndrea, who registered three goals. More assists for Port Huron came via Ian Miller, who had two and Alex Archibald, Daniel Rehnstrom, Bryan Yim, and Mark Evan Auk, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. K-Wings' Alex Okicki stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Kalamazoo incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Max Milosek made 18 saves for the Fighting Falcons on 24 shots. Port Huron totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play.
