Springfield outlasts Johnstown, 6-4

The game between the Springfield Jr. Blues and the Johnstown Tomahawks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Springfield emerged with a 6-4 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mike Fazio secured the win for the Jr. Blues with a goal in the third period.

Springfield outdid its season average for goals scored. The Jr. Blues average 2.8 goals per game.

Springfield additionally got points from Nate Chasteen, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Devin Mitchell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Mike Severson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Trevor Stone, who also registered one goal and one assist. Springfield also got a goal from Ryan Atkinson as well. In addition, Springfield received assists from James McGing and Simon Koscielski, who each chipped in one and Terry Leibo and Oliver Takacsi-Nagy, who contributed two a piece.

Johnstown stifled Springfield's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Tomahawks were led by Connor Wright, who finished with two goals and one assist. Wright scored the first of his two goals at 10:27 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jesse Kessler assisted on the tally. Wright's next tally made the score 4-2 Johnstown with 51 seconds left in the second period. Andrew McDonald also scored for Johnstown. More assists for Johnstown came via Zack Wallace, who had one.

The Jr. Blues' Ryan Kellenberger stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Springfield incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Collin Brennan rejected 21 shots on goal for Johnstown. The Tomahawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
