Fresno beats Minot 6-3 as Brossoit gets hat trick

Brandon Brossoit lifted the Fresno Monsters to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Minot Minotauros.

Brossoit's first goal came 7:29 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:01 into the first and at 11:46 into the third.

Fresno found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Monsters average 2.5 goals per contest. The 32 shots that Fresno put on net surpassed the Monsters' average of 21.1 shots per game this season.

Fresno additionally got points from Dan Sherer, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Tyler Shipstad also scored for Fresno. More assists for Fresno came via Ian Janco, Jacob McDowell, and Kyle Sucher, who each chipped in one.

Minot's offense rang up 40 shots on Fresno's net.

The Minotauros were led by Jake OBorsky, who tallied one goal and two assists. OBorsky scored on the power play 13:40 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Fresno. Minot earned a power play opportunity when Janco was put in the box for cross checking. Travis Maxwell picked up the assist. Minot also got points from Maxwell, who also had one goal and one assist. Minot also got a goal from Wesley Iverson as well. In addition, Minot received assists from Jadin Martin, Stephen Sherman, and Mason Morelli, who contributed one a piece.

The Monsters' Macauley Haight stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Fresno incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Minotauros' starting goalie, Tyler Parks, made five saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Ryan Ruck, who stopped 21 shots. Minot incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
