Fairbanks survives Wichita Falls comeback, wins 2-1

The Wichita Falls Wildcats tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Fairbanks Ice Dogs held on for a 2-1 victory.

Fairbanks made the score 2-0 on a goal by Jayson Angus at 13:18 in the second period, and Wichita Falls got as close as 2-1 when Marshall Tema scored 17:45 into the third period.

The Ice Dogs were led by goalie Kevin Aldridge, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Aldridge will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.34.

Fairbanks was sparked by Angus, who grabbed one goal.

With 33 shots on target during the contest, the Ice Dogs exceeded the 28.4 shots they average per game this year.

Doug Rose also scored for Fairbanks. More assists for Fairbanks came via Garret Clemment, Colton Wolter, Kyle Lee, and Devin Loe, who contributed one a piece.

The Wildcats put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.1 they average per game.

In addition, Wichita Falls received assists from Salminen Sami and Will Vosejpka, who each chipped in one.

Fairbanks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Evan Cowley made 31 saves for Wichita Falls on 33 shots. The Wildcats incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
