Minot vanquishes Fresno in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Minot Minotauros defeated the Fresno Monsters in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout lasted for 24 attempts between the teams. Fresno got shootout goals from Kyle Sucher and Daniel Rosse. In addition to the clincher, Minot got shootout goals from Stephen Sherman and Mason Morelli.

By firing 32 shots on goal, the Minotauros exceeded the 23.3 shots they average per game this year.

Minot was helped by Travis Maxwell, who finished with one goal. Maxwell scored 18:46 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jake OBorsky assisted on the tally. Sherman also scored for Minot. More assists for Minot came via Matt Audette, Jadin Martin, and Wesley Iverson, who each chipped in one.

The Monsters forced the Minotauros goalie Tyler Parks to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Fresno was helped by Mitchell Snyder, who had one goal. Snyder scored on the power play 5:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno. The Monsters earned a power play opportunity when Iverson was put in the box for fighting. Fresno also got a goal from Gordon Wells as well. In addition, Fresno received assists from Karl Andersen and Jordan Haskell, who contributed one a piece.

Minot's Parks stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Minotauros totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Tomas Sholl rejected 29 shots on goal for Fresno. The Monsters totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
