Amarillo rips Texas, 7-2Amarillo Fri, Oct 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amarillo Bulls were firing on all cylinders against the Texas Tornado, and when the final buzzer sounded Bulls emerged with a 7-2 win. Amarillo bested its season scoring average. The Bulls have scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Amarillo's offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 30.9 shots per game it averages. The Bulls were helped by Mike Davis, who tallied one goal and one assist. Davis scored 3:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo. Hampus Gustafsson picked up the assist. Amarillo additionally got points from TJ Sarcona, who also registered one goal and one assist and Gustafsson, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Amarillo also got a goal from Geoff Fortman as well. Other players who recorded assists for Amarillo were Garret Peterson, Omar Mullan, and Joe Grabowski, who each chipped in one and Gage Christianson and Tyler Rostenkowski, who contributed two a piece. Texas failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 18 pucks on goal after averaging 30.4 shots per game this season. The Tornado were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 21 penalty minutes. Texas was helped by Jason Eddy, who had one goal. Eddy scored 2:13 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Amarillo. Scott Conway provided the assist. Texas also got points from Brandon Hawkins, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Texas came via Justin Greenberg and CJ Reuschlein, who each chipped in one. Amarillo's Paul Berrafato stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. The Bulls totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Hunter Leisner took the loss and made 21 saves before being replaced by Jordan Kaufer who made 12 saves. The Tornado registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
