Amarillo falls to Corpus Christi in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Corpus Christi IceRays' Emil Romig scored 57 seconds into overtime to beat the Amarillo Bulls, 3-2 (OT).

Corpus Christi's penalty kill excelled, as the IceRays gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Corpus Christi was led by Romig, who finished with one goal.

The IceRays forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Corpus Christi surpassed its season average of 33.0 penalty minutes per game. The IceRays stifled Amarillo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

William Clark also scored for Corpus Christi. Other players who recorded assists for Corpus Christi were Perry DArrisso and Wayland Williams, who contributed one a piece and Phil Pietroniro and Brandon Berkley, who each chipped in two.

The Bulls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Corpus Christi to score on any of its three power plays. Amarillo did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bulls average 4.7 goals per game. Amarillo kept the IceRays' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ben Myers made 32 saves on 34 shots. The Bulls' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 14 shots between them.

Amarillo was helped by Gage Christianson, who racked up one goal. Christianson scored 19:22 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Amarillo also got a goal from Geoff Fortman as well. More assists for Amarillo came via John Rey and Mike Davis, who contributed one a piece.

Corpus Christi ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Smith was ejected from the game. Collin Delia recorded 21 saves for the Bulls. Amarillo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
