Jamestown outlasts Michigan, 4-2

The Jamestown Ironmen and the Michigan Warriors were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Jamestown made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Luc Gerdes' goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Gerdes had two goals to lead the Ironmen to victory.

Jamestown excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Ironmen put 37 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.5 they average per game.

Matt Lanzillotti also scored for Jamestown. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Victor Johansson, Michael Mazzotta, and Tyler Dunagan, who contributed one a piece.

Michigan kept Jamestown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Reid Mimmack made 33 saves on 35 shots.

The Warriors were helped by Connor Lyons, who had one goal. Lyons scored short handed 12:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan. Michigan was on a disadvantage when Colin Larkin went off the ice for hooking. Brock Labelle assisted on the tally. Michigan also got a goal from Zack Szajner as well. More assists for Michigan came via AJ Marcinek, who had one.

The Ironmen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Trevor Gorsuch made 33 saves for the Warriors on 36 shots. Michigan incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
