Wichita Falls uses early goal to top Corpus Christi, 4-2

The Wichita Falls Wildcats took the lead against the Corpus Christi IceRays in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

Kyle Bauman provided Wichita Falls with the game-winning tally when he scored 14:28 into the the first period. A high sticking penalty on Emil Romig had put the Wildcats on the power play. Eliot Grauer assisted on the tally.

Bauman had two goals to lead Wichita Falls to victory.

The Wildcats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 31 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.8 shots per game they average.

Wichita Falls also got points from Grauer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Nick Farmer also scored for Wichita Falls. More assists for Wichita Falls came via Colin Staub, who had two and Patrick Yudez, Salminen Sami, and George Pagonis, who contributed one a piece.

Corpus Christi kept Wichita Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cooper Cook made 37 saves on 39 shots.

The IceRays were helped by Ian McGilvrey, who registered one goal. McGilvrey scored on the power play 2:41 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wichita Falls. Corpus Christi had taken the advantage when the Wildcats' Ben Kucera got sent off for holding. Jonathan Grebosky picked up the assist. Corpus Christi also got a goal from Rudy Sulmonde as well. In addition, Corpus Christi received assists from John Roisum, who had two.

Wichita Falls totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Ben Myers recorded 27 saves for the IceRays. Corpus Christi totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-1 on the power play.
