Skibba's hat trick boosts Springfield over Port Huron, 5-3

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons could not stop the Springfield Jr. Blues' Brett Skibba, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-3 win.

Skibba's first goal came 5:38 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:40 into the third and at 19:27 into the third.

Springfield found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Jr. Blues have scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Springfield's offense was clicking better than usual and put 42 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.2 shots per game it averages.

Springfield also got a goal from Mitch Rogge as well. More assists for Springfield came via Jack Sloan, Nick Anderson, Mike Severson, Simon Koscielski, Tom Cooney, and Mike Fazio, who each chipped in one and Terry Leibo and Nate Chasteen, who contributed two a piece.

Port Huron's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Fighting Falcons give up 2.3 goals per game. The 40 shots that Port Huron put on net surpassed the Fighting Falcons' average of 27.5 shots per game this season.

Port Huron was helped by Zach Badalamenti, who registered one goal. Badalamenti scored 14:17 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Springfield. Nicholas Sierra assisted on the tally. Kody Polin also scored for Port Huron. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Ryan Nick, Bryan Yim, Ian Miller, Nick Horne, and Vito Aluia, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Blues' Matt Leon stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Springfield incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Max Milosek took the loss and made 34 saves before being replaced by Alex Blankenburg who made three saves. The Fighting Falcons incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
