Topeka completes comeback, beats Odessa, 3-2

The Odessa Jackalopes could not hold down the Topeka RoadRunners, and RoadRunners erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win.

Topeka never led in the game until netting the game winner. The RoadRunners was down 2-0 after a power play goal by Odessa's Tyler Cayemberg at 10:08 in the first period. Topeka tied things up at 2-2 on a short handed goal by Trace Strahle at 8:05 in the second period. The RoadRunners scored the game winner at 10:21 in the second period on a goal by Strahle.

Topeka's penalty kill excelled, as the RoadRunners gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The defense for Topeka played an important role offensively, racking up 16 shots on goal. With 37 shots on target during the contest, the RoadRunners exceeded the 24.1 shots they average per game this year.

Topeka was helped by Drew Kariofiles, who had one goal. Topeka additionally got points from Strahle, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Sean Gaffney, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Topeka received assists from Kevin Patterson, Michal Pastor, James Ring, and Kyle Sharkey, who contributed one a piece.

The 23 shots that the Jackalopes put on net surpassed Odessa's average of 17.4 shots per game this season.

Odessa also got a goal from Pat Thompson as well. More assists for Odessa came via Austin Ho and Taylor Portner, who each chipped in one.

Spencer Viele made 21 saves for the RoadRunners on 23 shots. Topeka incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Andrew Pikul rejected 34 shots on goal for the Jackalopes. Odessa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
